The PGA of America Releases Official Statement on Rule 14-1b

The USGA and R&A announces the formal adoption of Rule 14-1b that would prohibit a player to anchor the club in making a stroke.  The new Rule will take effect on January 1, 2016, in accordance with the regular four-year cycle for changes to the Rules of Golf.  Click on view more for the official statement from The PGA of America.

38th Junior PGA Championship is Coming to Trump National; Volunteers Needed

One of the largest Junior Championships in the country, the 38th Junior PGA Championship presented by Under Armour and Hotel Fitness , is coming to Trump National Golf Club, Washington D.C. from July 30-August 2, 2013. Trump’s Head PGA Professional John Valder and PGA tournament organizers are seeking volunteers as well as committee chairs* for the event. Annika Sorenstam Elects to become a PGA Member

Hall of Fame golfer Annika Sorenstam has elected to take advantage of her opportunity to become a PGA Member.  She has lifetime eligibility for membership based on her major championship victories and participation in the Solheim Cup.  Sorenstam is excited about sharing her pasison for growing the game with fellow PGA Members in the North Florida Section and across the country.  Click here for more on Sorenstam's election into PGA Membership.

HokieBird Spring Festival Welcomes Golf

The HokieBird Spring Festival was held on Saturday, April 20th in the Rector Field House prior to the annual VA Tech Maroon-White spring football game.  People of all ages attended the festival and nearly 400 stopped by the MAPGA area to take a shot at the infamous GolfZilla.  Thank you to Chris Lovrine, PGA Head Professional at the Virginia Tech Golf Course and to Marc MacDonald, Miles Curley and Jacob Everets who are members of the VA Tech Men's Golf Team.

On Tuesday, April 16th, several golf industry leaders will visit with Members of Congress at the Rayburn building in Washington D.C. for National Golf Day.  Their goal is to tell the story on why golf is more than just a game; it's a job creator, a revenue generator, a charitable contributor and an environmental protector.

Drive, Chip & Putt Championship - A Chance to Play #18 at Augusta National


Through the combined efforts of the Masters Tournament Foundation, United States Golf Association and The PGA of America, the
Drive, Chip and Putt Championship was created as a FREE and unique competition for junior golfers ages 7-15 (as of April 6, 2014).  This is a great opportunity for juniors to test their skills and earn a chance to play the 18th hole at Augusta National.
