2012 Press Release
The 42nd Nordlinger Cup was hosted at Mount Vernon Country Club on Monday, August 13, 2012. Tyler Satorius (Annandale, VA) and Joey Burkinshaw (Germantown, MD) both carded a +2 round of 72 to force a playoff. Burkinshaw won the one hole playoff to be crowned the overall winner of the 2012 Nordlinger Cup. He also won the Nordlinger Cup in 2010. Chris Brugge (Vienna, VA) , the defending champion finished in third place.
Claiming the Boys 14-15 age division was Vishal Giri (Fairfax, VA) with a 78, one shot over Ian Buchanan (Charlottesville, VA) who shot a 79. Giri pared the last four holes to pass Buchanan by one stroke.
Allison Wong (Rockville, MD) won the Girls 15-18 Division by shooting a 4 over par 75. Wong was very consistent on the day with 15 pars compared to 2 bogey’s and a double bogey. Nicole Flores (Brambleton, VA) finished in second place with a 79.
Nick Rentsch (Leesburg, VA) won the Boys 12-13 division with an 82. Rentsch started off five over par for his first three holes but then was only one over the next six holes to shoot a six over 41. David Pickei (Great Falls, VA) finished one stroke back at 83.
Delaney Shah (Germantown, MD) won the Girls 12-14 division with a four over 75.

Chris Brugge (Vienna, VA) won the 2011 Nordlinger Cup shooting a 3 over 73. Chris won on the second playoff hole over Lee Detmer (Bethesda, MD) and John Hulede (Mitchellville, MD). Chris has a very steady round on the day only having four bogeys to one birdie. Chris birdied the toughtest par 3 on the course with a 15 footer on the 11th.
Rachel Lee (Woodstock, MD) won the third playoff hole beating Chloe Tawaststjerna (Middleburg, VA). Both players shot a 78 for their first 18 and Rachel used her steady play to secure the win with three pars.
A special thanks to Bryan Armstrong, PGA and his staff for hosting the event for the 36th year. The course was in excellent condition even with all the heat over the long summer.
